Youth & Family Worker

We are currently recruiting for two part‑time Youth & Family Support Worker roles to support the delivery of activities with young people and families in Cardonald and surrounding areas.

These roles will support Turf’s existing youth work provision and the delivery of a pilot family support programme, helping create safe, welcoming and engaging spaces for children, young people and families to connect, learn and grow.

The posts are offered on a 6‑month temporary basis, with the potential to be extended subject to securing further funding. Working patterns will include evening work and occasional weekends.

Working at Turf means being part of a supportive, community‑led organisation that values relationships, local knowledge and learning from practice. You do not need a CLD qualification for this role, we are looking for people with relevant youth work experience who are enthusiastic about planning, delivering and reflecting on group sessions, and who want to play a positive role within the community.

We particularly welcome applications from people with lived or working experience of communities similar to Cardonald and surrounding areas.

As this role involves working with children and families, successful candidates will be required to undertake a PVG check through Disclosure Scotland,

Student Placements

Here at Turf we offer a wide range of opportunities for students at both College and University. We have supported a number of students who still volunteer with us and supported them with their professional progression. We have provided placements to students on a number of courses including:

• Community Education
• Community Development
• Health & Social Care
• Childcare
• Education & Social Services

Students will have the chance to be involved in working with children, young people and adults in our community. There is plenty of opportunities to develop new skills, shape your theoretical understanding and put this into practice.

Volunteer

Throughout the years of development at Turf, we have built a number of groups and opportunities that provide support and activities to Children, Young People, Adults and Families.

Without the continued support we have from volunteers our service would not be in the position it is in now. We are always keen to hear from people who are interested in giving up some time to support the delivery of our weekly services.

We have volunteers who come along and help run one group a week and we have others that come to multiple groups. The beauty of volunteering is you get to decide how much time you give back to the community.

Our volunteers at Turf are with us for a number of reasons including:

• Giving back to their local community.
• Building up experience to support with future college or university applications.
• Meet new people in their own community.
• Support with job applications that may ask for relevant experience.
