Papier-mâché pretzel

Group size: Adaptable Big group 10+ small group 3+ and medium 5-9
Timescale: 30-60 min
Where?:  Anywhere, indoors, outdoors or gym hall

What you need Newspaper
Paste (a combination of flour and water)
Paint
Brushes

For other projects
Pipe cleaners
Wire
Toilet/ kitchen roll tubes
Assorted balloons
Crepe paper

Instructions:  Twist newspaper into a sausage about 30″ long using masking tape to keep twisted. Form into a pretzel shape and tape to secure.
Rip strips of newspaper and let soak in a bowl of warm water
Use the wet strips of newspaper and mod podge to paper mâché the pretzels.
Let dry completely.
Paint the pretzels in pastel colours.
Use a smaller paintbrush to paint small sprinkles onto the pretzels.
Glue or tape a loop of string onto the back of the pretzel for hanging.
Tape the pretzels to the wall.
